Back to TD Garden

It’s on to the TD Garden for Canton’s two powerhouse ice hockey teams after Saturday’s Final Four sweep at Gallo Arena in Bourne. The third-seeded boys team (21-4-0) punched their ticket first with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 Duxbury. Then they came out and cheered on the No. 4 CHS girls (19-2-4) as they out-dueled top-seeded Archbishop Williams 1-0. Fittingly, it was a pair of senior captains who provided the heroics in both victories, with AJ Thomas (2 goals) leading the way for the boys and Audrey Koen coming through with the late game winner for the girls.

The two Canton squads will now head back to the Division 2 state final for the third consecutive postseason, and both have their sights set on redemption after losing in hard-fought battles to eventual champions Tewksbury (boys) and Algonquin (girls). This year, the girls will do battle with No. 2 Duxbury and the boys will take on eighth-seeded Hopkinton at the Garden on Sunday, March 19, with opening faceoffs set for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
