News Notes: Canton man killed on I-95 in Needham

A 28-year-old Canton man was struck and killed by a motorist while walking on I-95 in Needham on Friday, February 24, around 1:20 a.m.

The accident occurred just north of Exit 33. Mass. State Police are analyzing debris that potentially came from the vehicle, which was gone when first responders arrived.

The victim has been identified as Justin Kelley, a member of the CHS Class of 2013. Kelley was reportedly walking in the breakdown lane prior to being hit.

Canton PD responds to rash of crisis calls

In a span of just over six hours on Wednesday night, February 15, Canton police officers, along with mental health clinician Ciara Maguire, responded to eight calls for crisis intervention. Maguire said all of the officers intervened with “thoughtful skills, consideration, and an overall high level of understanding” about the situation at hand.

“They provided an easy transition for my assessments, as they first formed a calm, trusting alliance with the subjects from the moment they arrived on scene,” Maguire said.

St. Gerard’s Reuse Committee to hold public workshops

The St. Gerard’s Reuse Committee will hold a public workshop on Tuesday, March 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Canton High School cafeteria.
