Oliver headlines top track performances at D3 meet

CHS track standout Katie Oliver will represent the Bulldogs at the state Meet of Champions after placing fifth overall in the long jump at last weekend’s Division 3 Championships.

Oliver also finished 16th in the 55-meter hurdles with a new personal best and contributed to an eighth place finish in the 4×200 relay along with teammates Jayda Proffit, Diana Tambi and Syriah McCruse. The 4×800 relay team of Maggie McCready, Klara Redquest, Sam Sweenie and Nora Giannacopoulos also placed eighth, while McCruse and Emma Massih finished 10th in the 55-meter dash and shot put, respectively.

Also competing for the CHS girls were Lianna Camille, who placed 12th with a personal record in the 300; Lexi Piazza, who finished 16th and had the top freshman time in the 600 (PR); the 4×400 team of Maggie Thiboutot, Lily Duong, Lexi Piazza and Lianna Camille, who took 12th, Tambi in the 55m, 24th; and Proffit in the 55 hurdles, 31st.

Representing Canton on the boys’ side were Dan Krasylnykov, who placed 18th in the 300, and Luke Darling, who finished 28th in the mile. Two boys relays also competed, with the 4×800 team of Mo Arugollu, Austin DiBiasio, Sam Vail and Darling placing 14th and the 4×200 team of Aaron Wong, Christian Hanlon, Charlie Zack and Krasylnykov placing 18th.
