Comment period for energy aggregation ends Feb. 2

By

Canton residents have one more week to offer their comments on a draft Energy Aggregation Plan for Canton Electricity Choice — a new purchasing program that seeks to offer affordable renewable energy options for Canton residents and businesses.

The program will allow the town to use its collective buying power in order to give electricity customers greater control over the cost and environmental impact of the electricity they use. Though it will not be able to guarantee savings, the town is committed to working toward competitive and stable prices.

After the conclusion of the public comment period on February 2, the town will submit its aggregation plan to state regulators for review and approval.

The draft plan has been posted on the town website and hard copies are available in the Town Clerk’s Office at Canton Town Hall. Comments can be submitted in writing to Town of Canton, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021 (Attn: Canton Energy Advisory Committee) or via email to ceac@town.canton.ma.us. Comments sent by mail must be received (not postmarked) by the end of the comment period in order to be addressed.

For additional information about Canton Electricity Choice and answers to frequently asked questions, go to CantonElectricityChoice.com or call customer support with the town’s program consultants at 1-844-202-6101.
