Galvin GSA speaks out in support of teachers

By

Dear Editor:

The Galvin Middle School GSA has temporarily moved to the Makerspace at the Canton Public Library to hold our after-school meetings. We are not in our usual school classroom because of the work-to-rule action by the Canton teachers. Our GSA is a non-funded club, so our teacher is not compensated for running clubs like ours after school. The GSA means a lot to us, as it is an important safe space for LGBTQ+ students.

We aren’t happy with having to schedule meetings in the public library, but this isn’t all about us! Our teachers deserve payment for unpaid hours after school. This is an issue that affects both students and teachers at our school and many other schools. We are writing this letter not just because we care about our club, but because we care about our teachers.

Sincerely,

The Galvin GSA
