Town issues reminder about mattress disposal ban

By

Effective November 1, residents of Massachusetts will no longer be permitted to throw away mattresses or box springs in accordance with a new statewide disposal ban adopted recently by the Department of Environmental Protection.

Under the new ban, all mattresses and box springs must either be donated or recycled, with the latter option typically requiring a fee. In the meantime, residents are being urged to contact the store from which they purchased their new mattress or box spring to inquire about recycling options.

For more information about the new regulations, go to mass.gov/service-details/mattress-recycling.
