BOH announces October vaccine clinics

By

The Canton Board of Health recently announced a series of COVID Bivalent booster and flu vaccination clinics that will be held on three dates in October.

The first clinic, offering the Moderna Bivalent booster (18+) as well as flu shots, is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Canton Senior Center, 500 Pleasant Street. The other two clinics will offer both the Pfizer Bivalent booster (12+) and the flu vaccine on consecutive Saturdays: October 15 in the Galvin Middle School cafeteria and October 22 in the CHS cafeteria. Both Saturday clinics will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The single-dose Bivalent boosters, also known as updated boosters, are broadly protective against the original COVID-19 strain and offer better protection against the omicron variant of the virus.

At any of the three upcoming clinics, individuals may receive both the booster and flu shot on the same day. For details, eligibility requirements and to pre-register, go to town.canton.ma.us/139/Board-of-Health. If you have questions or require assistance, call 781-821-5021.

Residents needed to fill Traffic Committee slots

The Canton Traffic Committee met Monday night but were not able to take any official votes because it did not have enough members present for a quorum. Chairperson Tom Theodore said the committee is looking to fill three at-large slots. Those interested should contact the Select Board’s office at Town Hall.

At the September 19 meeting, Police Chief Helena Rafferty introduced Sergeant Sean Goode, who is heading up the department’s Traffic Division. Goode said officers issued 355 citations through the first two and a half weeks of September with most of the citations handed out on York, Sherman and Bailey streets. Any resident who has complaints about speeding should contact Sgt. Goode. A traffic complaint form is also available on the CPD website at cantonpolice.com …
