The Canton Alliance Against Substance Abuse (CAASA) held its sixth annual Celebration of Life on Thursday evening, September 1, on the front lawn of the Canton Senior Center. Held in conjunction with International Overdose Awareness Day (August 31), the event honored the memories of those lost to drug overdose while also offering support to those still struggling with the disease of addiction. The program included selected readings by CAASA members and community leaders, music by Michael Hohmann, and remarks by guest speaker Karen Quatromoni, who reflected on the loss of her nephew Sean. The event culminated with a candle-lighting ceremony and a reading of names in memory of loved ones lost, followed by refreshments in the Senior Center, where guests were invited to view a slideshow honoring the memories of family and friends lost to overdose or addiction.
