Molloy, John

By

John Molloy, 82, passed away peacefully at his home late Tuesday evening, August 2, surrounded by family.

A native of Boston, John was born on January 28, 1940, and grew up in South Boston. He graduated from South Boston High and went to work for Insulators Local 6, working as a pipe coverer for many years. Later he worked at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on Cape Cod and skiing the slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine.

He is survived by his loving companion of 32 years, Janet Masciarelli of Canton; his two daughters, Karen Molloy of Westford and Donna Nixon of Hollis, New Hampshire; stepsons Alex Masciarelli of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Matt Masciarelli of Canton; grandchildren Sean Lanciani, Corey Lanciani, Nolan Nixon, Brendan and Jonathan Nixon, Sophia Masciarelli, Fiona Masciarelli, Olivia Masciarelli, Jack Masciarelli and Sam Masciarelli, as well as many nieces and nephews.

John’s booming laugh and love of conversation will never be forgotten. He would often visit and chat with people at work, on the ski slopes, and with family members. He was a great listener and loved to ask questions to learn about others’ life experiences. His sincerity was always evident in these conversations.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Autism Speaks at autismspeaks.org or by mail to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Rd., 2nd Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540.

An “open house” Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 25, from 5-9 p.m. at the Canton Town Club, 300 Bailey Street in Canton.
