By

Marion Catherine Fitzgerald passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 20, 2022 at age 95. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her four children: Michael and his wife, Janet, James and his wife, Sandra, Brian and his wife, Shana, and daughter Maura. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael, Erin, Kaleigh, Allison, Amanda, Patrick and Ainsley, and 10 great-grandchildren, Akira, Mirani, Tucker, Taylor, Bo, Logan, Rory, Keegan, Cannon and Maeve.

Marion was born to Catherine and Leo Goodrich on May 1, 1927. She was raised in Jamaica Plain along with brothers Leo, William and Paul and sisters Edna, Eleanor, Patricia, Helen and Betty. Marion grew up in The Blessed Sacrament parish of Jamaica Plain.

She met her husband, Richard, in 1954 and they married in September 1955. They were married for 59 years. Marion and Richard lived in Hyde Park and then Canton. They had four children. After Richard passed away in August 2014, Marion continued to live a full and active life, always surrounded by family.

As a young woman she developed a passion for writing. Her work included the class poem she wrote for her high school graduation. She worked after school as an usher at the theaters in town like the Shubert, Wilbur and the Boston Opera House.

Marion loved being with her family. She looked forward to her trip every July to White Horse Beach in Plymouth where she played cribbage and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with over 100 of her close relatives.

She was in a bowling league with her sisters and friends for over 50 years. Marion was an avid Boston sports fan with a special affinity for the Boston Red Sox. She followed them all and stuck with them through thick and thin. Marion was a force of nature, strong willed and guided by her faith in God. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
