Both Canton High ice hockey teams are headed to the Division 2 state final four after impressive quarterfinal victories on Saturday, March 12.

The ninth-seeded girls team kicked off the hometown celebration with a convincing, 3-0 victory at the Bog over No. 1 Duxbury — Canton’s second win this season against the top-ranked Dragons. The fun continued later that evening at Gallo Arena in Bourne, where the No. 3 CHS boys team outlasted No. 6 Walpole 3-2 in overtime at Gallo Arena in Bourne.

Both Canton teams are now just one win away from a return trip to the Garden — a trip that they both should have made in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancelation of the state final. The girls (17-6) will take on No. 5 Natick on Monday night at Gallo, and the boys (21-2-1) will face No. 2 Gloucester Tuesday at Tsongas Arena. In other CHS tournament action:

* The No. 10 CHS girls basketball team made an impressive postseason run but had their state title hopes dashed by No. 2 Medfield in D2 quarterfinal action Friday night. The Bulldogs had advanced to the Round of 8 following wins over No. 23 Tewksbury and No. 7 Westwood. Senior Fay Gallery scored her 1,000th point during the girl’s opening round victory at home
