Firefighters extinguish warehouse fire on Will Dr.

On Thursday, January 20, firefighters from Canton and three neighboring communities joined forces to battle a fire at the FW Webb building on Will Drive. The Canton Fire Department received the initial call shortly before 11 p.m. and responding crews found fire inside the warehouse with the sprinklers operating. Firefighters forced open the rear door and attacked the fire using a mixture of foam and water. Fire Chief Charles Doody said the fire involved two pallets of spray paint cans wrapped in cardboard that were likely ignited by sparks from a welding operation. Firefighters established the water supply from a hydrant at North Street and Will Drive (900 feet away from the building) and then assisted the Engine 3 crew in checking for fire extension in other areas of the building. A Norwood Fire crew staged in the rear of the building and assisted with ventilation; a Sharon crew was assigned as the Rapid Intervention Team; and a crew from Stoughton provided coverage at CFD Station 1. Doody said no one was injured and the company was back up and running the following day.
