With two more convincing wins last week, the CHS girls swim team remained as the only unbeaten Canton squad left standing this winter — and a lock to regain the Davenport Division title — heading into Wednesday’s regular season finale against Foxboro.

Entering the meet at 6-0 overall, the lady Bulldogs have been a juggernaut in the Hock this season, beating teams by an average of 24 points with their only close result coming in the opener against King Philip (85-84).

Last week, the girls cruised to a 98-67 victory over North Attleboro at home, then headed over to the Hockomock YMCA pool, where they outlasted a previously unbeaten Sharon squad to win by 10.

Three different CHS swimmers — Annie McLean and sisters Shauna and Keeley Harney — finished with two individual event wins apiece and also teamed up to win a pair of relays, along with Tema Mazonson (200 free relay) and Corinne Campbell (400 free relay).

Mazonson, who has been a steady contributor all season long, also earned a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and took third place in the 200IM, in addition to a second relay win in the 200 medley along with Campbell and Abby and Julianne Gilchrist.

Other Canton placewinners in the meet included Campbell in the breaststroke (2nd), Amy Murphy in the 500 free (2nd), Olivia Hickey in the 100 free (2nd), Erin Lane in the 100 fly (3rd), and Abby Gilchrist in the 100 free (3rd).

In the earlier win against NA, the Harney sisters again led the way with Shauna winning both the 200 free and 100 backstroke and Keeley taking first in 100 free and 100 fly. Mazonson was also a double winner in the 200IM and 500 free while Campbell took first in the breaststroke and second in the 500 free. McLean added a pair of second-place finishes in the 200IM and 100 fly, Abbie Gilchrist did the same in the 100 free and 100 backstroke, and Julianne Gilchrist and Mia Galvin were runners-up in the 50 free and breaststroke, respectively.

On the boys’ side, the Bulldogs split their two meets last week with an 85-74 win over NA and an 86-68 loss to Sharon. The boys are now 4-2 overall and are in second place behind Sharon in the Davenport Division.

Top performers for Canton in the NA win included Austin Lee, who was a double winner in the 200 free and breaststroke and helped power the 200 medley relay to a victory along with Charlie Smith, Matt Hart and Talis Veidis. Smith also had a strong meet with a win in the 100 backstroke and second-place finish in the 200IM. Veidis added a first and a second-place finish 100 free and 50 free, respectively, and Hart placed second in the breaststroke.

Against Sharon, Veidis repeated his result with a first in the 100 free and second in the 50 free, and Smith took first in the backstroke while placing second in the 200IM. Other key contributors included Hunter Rice, Hart, Gio Ruggeri, and Nick Ruggeri.
