Callahan, John J.

John “Jack” J. Callahan Jr., 87, of Canton, passed on June 15, 2021 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a lengthy illness.

Born in Norwood, the son of the late John “Bing” J. Callahan, Sr. and Mary “Bea” B. (Donovan) Callahan, he had been a lifelong Canton resident. Mr. Callahan attended St. John School and graduated from Canton High School with the Class of 1951.

Mr. Callahan retired from T.W. Kutter, Inc. where he had worked as a traffic manager for many years. He had previously been employed at Northeastern Distributors in Cambridge.

A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he served as a Radioman 2nd Class during the Korean War era.

A longtime baseball enthusiast, he was the catcher on Canton High School’s baseball team while in school. After retirement Mr. Callahan enjoyed gardening around the house, cooking, golfing, spending time with his family and friends and watching the New England Patriots.

Mr. Callahan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy J. (Conca) Callahan, his son Mark Callahan and his wife, Sharon, of Medway, his daughter Julie MacShane and her husband, Greg, of NH, his sister Roni Gaboury and her husband, Lawrence, of FL and his grandchildren Emma and Alex. He is also survived by his extended family.

A mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, June 19, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
