Roger Albert Moore, of Stoughton, formerly of Canton, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2021 after a short illness. He was 89 years old.

Roger grew up in Canton and was a standout lineman on Canton High School’s 1949 undefeated football team. He also played semi-professional football for the Canton Town Club. He spent most of his career as a piping designer at General Dynamics in Quincy and various other shipyards around the country. In his later years, he worked as a software consultant at Computer Software in Canton and as a designer of water treatment plants at EMCO in Canton. Roger loved his family and church. He enjoyed running, hiking, bird watching, he had a legendary appetite, and was an avid weightlifter who was able to use close to 300 pounds in the squat at the gym, into his early 70s.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Pendergast) Moore. Loving father of Christopher Moore and his wife, Debra, of Norton, Brian Moore and his wife, Laurie, of Stoughton, and the late Kathleen Moore. Devoted brother of Mary Geoghegan of Stoughton, and the late William Moore, Frances Moore, Lawrence Moore, and Charles Moore. Roger is also survived by his grandchildren John Stivaletta of Dorchester, Lauren Stivaletta of Dedham, Meghan Moore of Stoughton, Cori Moore of Stoughton, and his great-granddaughter Ava Espinal of Norwood.

In keeping with the COVID-19 guidelines, which include face coverings, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity, those attending will be asked to pay their respects and depart to allow the next guests to enter the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, May 21, from 4-6 p.m. in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m. in the Faith Baptist Church, 18 Stoughton Street in Stoughton.
