Commercial building damaged in MV crash

On Friday, January 15, at 10:30 a.m., Canton firefighters and an ambulance crew responded to a single-car accident that resulted in damage to the entrance of a commercial building at 510 Chapman Street. Fire Lt. Tom Norton said the driver, who was unharmed, struck the stairs at the entrance to the building, damaging the staircase and railing. Building Inspector Ed Walsh also responded to the scene, and the front entrance was deemed unsafe and taped off.

In other news last week, a Canton EMS crew responded to an opioid-related call for a 34-year-old-male that had reportedly taken Fentanyl. Interim EMS Coordinator Leo Reardon said the victim did not need or receive Narcan but was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Panda Gold facing liquor law violation

Xianchi Liu, 49, of Allston, will be summoned to court to face a liquor law violation after allegedly selling alcohol the Panda Gold restaurant to two undercover Canton police officers last week. Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said the restaurant’s liquor license had expired on December 31 and that owners were notified numerous times and missed a recent hearing on the license renewal.

Master Plan Implementation Committee almost complete

The nine-member Master Plan Implementation Committee is almost complete after the Select Board confirmed several recent appointments. New members include Kathy McCormack representing the Planning Board; Bob MacDonald, Conservation Commission; Alan Rapoport, Economic Development Committee; Mike Loughran, Select Board; Lisa Lopez, Community Preservation Committee; Kristian Merenda, School Committee; Emilio Mauro, Finance Committee; and Sean Robinson, at large seat. The Select Board has one more appointment to fill and that is a representative from the Historical Commission. The town staff member is Town Planner Laura Smead.
