With another home-and-home sweep last week against Sharon, the CHS golf team ran its winning streak to six in a row and now sits alone atop the Hockomock Davenport Division.

In their away match last Wednesday at the Cape Club of Sharon, the Bulldogs looked the part of an undefeated team as they outscored the Eagles by 25 strokes, 148-173.

Leading the way for the victors was junior Mike Leonetti, who shot a two-under 34 while notching on eagle on the par-5 fifth hole. He was followed by Nate MacDonald (36), Will Gefteas (38), and Owen Donovan (40). The team score of 148 was the lowest recorded at the Cape Club by any team, including Sharon, since they started playing at that course in 2016.

The following day at Blue Hill Country Club, the Bulldogs battled tough conditions but still came away with a solid victory, winning 154-168. Donovan and Gefteas both shot a 37 while Leonetti, MacDonald, Conor Hunter, and Aiden French all had 40 scores.

“Owen and Will continue to play great, consistent golf,” remarked Barucci. “It was a very windy day, so the course was playing a little tougher than usual. We [still] had six guys finish with a 40 or better.”

Barucci said overall team depth has been a major strength of the squad this season and a key to its perfect record through six matches. “Once again, our depth has helped us win at home and on the road,” he said. “Through our first six matches we have had five different match medalists. Everyone has been working hard at practice to improve their game and it is showing in their match scores, which continue to get better.”

The Bulldogs were scheduled to play twice this week against North Attleboro (4-4) and will then close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against second-place Oliver Ames (6-1) next Tuesday and Thursday, October 27 and 29.
