Akikie, Ayoub S.

Ayoub S. “Fred” Akikie of Hyde Park passed away August 9 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in the South End of Boston, he attended Somerville High School. He worked for 13 years for the City of Boston Property Management Department before retiring. Fred previously worked for Shawmut Bank, Bank of America, Faulkner Hospital, Luby Chevrolet in Boston, and for Quinziny Bakery in Boston. He was an active member of the Hyde Park Lions Club for over 35 years.

Beloved husband for 61 years of Marie L. (Marotta). Father of Cheryl A. Charles and her husband, Frederick, of Canton and Michael P. Akikie and his wife, Lisa, of Stoughton. Grandfather of Michael and Nicholas Charles and Stephen and Anthony Akikie. Brother of Diana Kelley of Watertown, Genevieve Salemi and her husband, Bill, of Watertown, and the late Helen Sakakeeny. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday in St. Gerard Majella Church in Canton. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
