Thank you all of Canton

By

Dear Editor:

What an extraordinary experience this campaign has been, culminating in a roller coaster final 24 hours. My heartfelt thanks to the more than 100 indefatigable supporters who held signs, stamped envelopes, made calls, sent postcards, knocked on doors, arranged meet and greets, participated in social media, hosted lawn signs, contributed funds and so much more — mostly during a pandemic. I’m proud of the campaign we waged together, which emphasized ideas, as well as opportunities for continuing improvements for the town we cherish. Every one of you should take satisfaction that this result was derived from every extra conversation or email or call you made to “just one more person.” I have no doubt that each one of your singular efforts added up to making the difference that mattered.

And a special thanks to Canton voters, particularly those first timers to our local election, who contributed to the record turnout, the highest in many years.

One of the best parts of the campaign experience was meeting so many talented people committed to Canton. The next few years will be challenging. I look forward to working closely with others on the Board of Selectmen to engage as many as possible in how best you can continue to contribute to Canton in whatever ways your interest and capacity permits.

It is always challenging to unseat any incumbent, and especially an incumbent with long ties to, and who is beloved by, the community. I congratulate Chris Connolly on his reelection, and thank Tommy Theodore for his selfless service.

Sincerely,

Lisa Lopez
