Apply fast, before SBA dollars run out again

By

Dear Canton small businesses:

We know that most of our local small businesses are hurting badly as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis and state-ordered work stoppages. When you suffer, the whole community suffers, whether as employees, customers, or residents who take for granted your contributions to our local tax base. Just as important, the community depends on your contribution to the character and personality of the town.

For all these reasons I urge you to act quickly to determine whether you are eligible for any of the federal SBA loans or grants once again available as a result of the law just signed April 24, and apply immediately if you are. Just like the first tranche of relief dollars for very popular programs such as PPP (payroll protection), these funds will be depleted quickly. You will want to be at the head of a very long line for these scarce resources.

Already, many are doing what they can personally to support some local businesses, including our favorite restaurants; and sooner than later, we as a community may want to consider how best to formally support your revival. But meanwhile, act fast while federal dollars last!
