Neighbor echoes bridge complaint

By

Dear Editor:

A lot of us from the Neponset Street neighborhood agree with Peter Solz’ assessment in his January 16 letter to the editor that the new Revere bridge is a monstrosity — it couldn’t be uglier. It is rivaled in ugliness only by the Canton Junction overpass. What a shame. Due to safety and nightmare traffic considerations, that bridge should not have been built, but since it was, why didn’t they choose a nice stone arch design to match the architecture of the historic Canton Viaduct? Instead they went with the old Plymouth Rubber aesthetic, which has also carried through to the industrial look of the new condo building — totally unlike what was promised to the town. Yuck! I just hope awful aesthetics will be the worst of what we Neponset Street area residents will have to suffer with because of this bridge.

Sincerely,

Ann Macadam
