Police investigate shooting incident on York Street

By

A woman was transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after being struck by a stray bullet during a shooting incident near York Street and Ledgewood Drive on Monday night, November 25.

Police said the woman, who has not been identified, was merely an innocent victim and was not an intended target. The shots are believed to have been fired from a vehicle and multiple homes and vehicles were also hit, according to WBZ News, which obtained photos of two damaged cars.

The WBZ report, citing police sources, indicated that the victim, age 20, had just left a friend’s house on Ledgewood Drive and was walking to her car at the time she was shot.

Police closed York Street for several hours and spent the overnight hours combing the area for evidence. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
