The Board of Selectmen is reviewing a change in the master agreement with Canton Holdings LLC to allow a separate developer to construct the 60 age-restricted rental units that had been previously approved for the Paul Revere Heritage Site. The new apartment building will be similar in style to the Copperworks condo buildings.

The building for the rental units will be similar in style to the condominium buildings and residents will share a clubhouse and pool. Arista plans to build 24 one-bedroom apartments and 36 two-bedroom units within the three-story building.

Weymouth said his company has had experience building quality-driven multi-family units in Attleboro and Mansfield. If approved by selectmen, Arista is preparing to begin building in February 2020 with an expected completion sometime in 2021.

All 60 units will count towards Canton’s affordable housing percentage, which is currently above the state-mandated 10 percent threshold. Selectmen plan to take the next week to study the plans before taking possible action at its next meeting on Tuesday, November 19 …
