It was another banner summer season for the Hannington’s softball team, which captured its third consecutive championship as part of the Stoughton Men’s Softball League. Sponsored by Canton Attorney Glen Hannington and made up primarily of Canton residents, the team has now combined for 13 titles in the last 16 years between the Canton and Stoughton men’s leagues.

After starting off hot with seven wins in their first eight games, Hannington’s hit a rough patch over the second half of the regular season, but still placed first in the standings with a 12-6 record. The team then caught fire in the playoffs, going 8-1 and sweeping the finals. Assistant manager Greg Lyons said the offense struggled at times, but timely hitting down the stretch combined with excellent pitching and defense propelled Hannington’s to the title.
