The Word Doctor

By

Dr. Olarewaju Oladipo, orthopedic surgeon and motivational author

If the thought of helping someone feels like a burden, you are a stranger to kindness. True kindness is kindness shared without a price tag.

The above quote is one of over 3,000 original Twitter messages written by Olarewaju Oladipo, MD. Since February 2011, at the suggestion of a patient who observed the positive impact of his spoken words, the Canton surgeon has been writing inspirational/motivational quotes and posting them three times a day on Twitter using the handle @3SqMeals.

Fondly referred to as Dr. O’, Dr. Oladipo’s mission to improve the world with inspiring words is at the forefront of his literary works. He believes strongly that just like food, inspiring words are vital nourishment for the human spirit.

The name, 3SqMeals, defines the frequency of his posts on Twitter and also captures the nourishing nature of his words of wisdom and motivation. Over the years, 3SqMeals’ messages have become a much-needed therapeutic tool that feeds the craving for mindfulness and meditation today.

Dr. Oladipo is a longtime resident of Canton and a father of five daughters. Having trained in the United Kingdom and qualified as a surgeon, he relocated to the United States in the early 1990s for additional training before joining a local orthopedic practice. He devoted a considerable part of his early career to the provision of selfless service to the underserved and to the men and women of the incarcerated population.

In addition to the work that he does within the community, Dr. Oladipo founded an international mentoring organization called KAINJI — named after a natural lake in Nigeria — that supports young international medical graduates preparing for a career in the United States. Through this initiative, he has made a significant impact on the lives of several young physicians, many of whom have successfully completed their training.

In his words, “The real gem of making a mistake lies in your ability to prevent someone else from doing the same.” He has made mentoring young physicians a lifelong mission, one that complements his literary works at 3SqMeals.

Dr. Oladipo has self-published some of his quotes into four books, part of a 10-book series. He hopes that his quotes will continue to grow its audience to all corners of the world. In addition to the book series, he has also published books that are centered on his mentoring work. He has written medical fiction, penned a mystery tale series, and published an African folklore book series. A train enthusiast, he is currently writing a children book series based on his travels. All of his published books are available online on Amazon.
