Shannon, David L.
By Canton CitizenDavid L. “Buddy” Shannon, Jr., 64, of Canton, died peacefully on June 25, 2019.
Bud was a local cab driver in recent years and previously was a longtime employee of the Canton Town Club before he retired. Bud was a standout athlete at Canton High School and went on to play football for four years at American International College in Springfield. He graduated in 1977 as the school’s first marketing major.
Cherished son of Mary A. (Burtkus) Shannon of Canton and the late David L. Shannon, Sr. Loving brother of James P. Shannon of Norton, Maureen G. Humphrey of Whitman, Paul J. Shannon of Whitman, Robert E. Shannon of North Attleboro, Michael G. Shannon of Ohio, John G. Shannon of California, William H. Shannon of Canton, Mary K. Melvin of Easton, Christopher M. Shannon of Mansfield, Regina M. Newcomb of Bridgewater, Theresa A. Marino of Bellingham, Matthew P. Shannon of Republic of Columbia, and the late Thomas P. Shannon and Richard A. “Ricky” Shannon. He is also survived by 40 nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 29, in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in David’s name may be made to the Canton Veterans Fund, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021.
