Trerice, Mazzola named Hock Scholar Athletes

By

Congratulations to CHS seniors Kathryn Trerice and Michael Mazzola, who were named the 2019 winners of the Hockomock Scholar-Athlete Award. The award honors one male and one female graduating athlete from each of the league’s 12 schools who exemplify excellence in both athletics and academics.

Trerice has been a key member of the field hockey and ice hockey programs during her four years at CHS while Mazzola has been an important contributor for the boys soccer, indoor track and outdoor track teams.

“Both have managed to excel on the field/ice/track while also being among the highest achieving academically in their class,” said CHS Athletic Director Danny Erickson. “Canton High School is proud of both of these shining examples of student-athlete excellence, as well as the hundreds of other Bulldogs who commit fully to excelling in the classroom as well.”

Trerice and Mazzola received their awards at a banquet held earlier this month in Wrentham that was attended by the league’s principals, athletic directors, and family members. The two honorees are pictured above on the night of the banquet with their parents.
