Please control your off-leash dogs

By

Dear Canton community:

I am writing with a request for all dog owners. Please be in control of your off-leash dogs in the Blue Hills trails and the Ponkapoag Pond area. I am a 12-year-old dog and I enjoy walking with my owner each day in the Ponkapoag area. It brings me great joy to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in the trails.

However, one day, I was walking with my owner when two dogs that were not on leash came charging at me. One dog grabbed my neck and the other grabbed my back. The owners were not close enough to control their pets and the dogs did not listen when their owners commanded them to come back. My owner yelled and both dogs released, but it was so scary for both of us.

All dogs, young and old, and all owners, young and old, should be allowed to enjoy the trails around Blue Hills, Ponkapoag Golf Course, and Ponkapoag Pond. Please make everyone safe by leashing and being in control of your dogs.
