Edward D. “Ted” Draper, 82, of Canton, passed away on March 25 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Ted was born and raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. He attended the Culinary Institute of America and after graduating opened his own restaurant, The Pickle Barrel. After he sold The Pickle Barrel Ted worked as a chef at a number of restaurants and then as the director of food services at several healthcare institutions. He loved to cook for family and friends and frequently hosted Sunday dinners.

Ted was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed running, walking and hiking. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and was proud to have hiked all of the 4,000 footers in New Hampshire. Ted was also an avid gardener and enjoyed sitting on his patio reading surrounded by his various plants, flowers and waterfalls.

Beloved husband of Mary P. “Pat.” Father of Marianne Edwards of NY, Edward D. Draper, Jr. of NH, and Alicia Anderson and her husband, Bill, of GA. Brother of the late Jody Draper and Thomas “Tim” Draper. Grandfather of Jake and Lucas Edwards, Nicholas and Zachary Draper, Meghan Burke and her husband, Tye, and Katherine Anderson.
