CYH players win Bruins Mini 1-on-1 title

By

Four Canton Youth Hockey players are headed to NHL All Star weekend in January after winning the TD Bank Mini 1-on-1 tournament held last weekend at the TD Garden.

Mini 1-on-1 is a youth hockey program sponsored by Bruins Academy in partnership with Massachusetts Hockey. Teams consist of three players and a goalie competing in a cross-ice format.

The Canton team was coached by CYH Squirt A coach Mike Nemetz and featured Liam Connolly, Teddy Shuman and Joey Ryan with Matt Wright in goal. After capturing the district 1-on-1 title back in September at the Stoughton Ice Center, the boys advanced to Sunday’s tournament finals at the Garden, where they looked equally sharp against top teams from across New England, winning all four contests by a combined score of 7-1.

For their efforts, the team was rewarded with a trip to San Jose to attend the NHL Skills Competition and 2019 All-Star game.
