The Federal Bureau of Investigation recently sent a letter to Police Chief Ken Berkowitz commending the Canton Police Department for its assistance in a federal investigation called “Operation Landshark.” The investigation targeted repeat violent offenders and gang members in Boston and Brockton.

Investigators conducted numerous controlled purchases of cocaine, crack cocaine, Fentanyl, heroin, firearms and counterfeit money from numerous criminal subjects under investigation. Berkowitz said as part of the investigation, Dylan Fortes of Brockton and Bay Road in Canton was arrested by the FBI and Canton Police on August 30. Fortes faces numerous federal charges, including two counts of illegal firearm possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

During the operation, Berkowitz worked in the FBI Command Post in Chelsea and Lt. Tom Keleher, Detective Sgt. Paul Gallagher, Detective Glen Piro, and officers Zack Pearlstein, Brian Ronayne and Tim Taylor were all on scene in Canton.

“I’m grateful for our partnerships that help keep crime out of our community,” said Berkowitz.
