Rescue Angels Reunion

By

On Sunday, September 2, Rescue Angels held its annual reunion at Pakeen Farm in Canton. Rescue Angels, Inc. is a public nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity created to rescue, rehabilitate, and find permanent homes for abandoned or homeless dogs that have a high potential of being euthanized. Vickie Hess, owner and founder of the Braintree-based organization, has given over 1,950 dogs their forever home. Her tireless effort to find the right home for the right dog is only matched by her true love of dogs and the belief that every dog deserves a happy and healthy life.

Sunday’s event included a K-9 photo booth, an off leash fenced area for littermates to reunite, raffle prizes, and lots of happy faces and wagging tails.

Pakeen Farm owners John and Jane Bihldorff generously offered to host the annual event starting in 2015 after they adopted their own hound/Lab mix named Winter from Rescue Angels in December of 2014. The Bihldorffs always had dogs and they were usually purebreds from a breeder. Their granddaughter told them about a television show she saw about rescue dogs and they knew it was a good thing to do. Coincidentally, the Bihldorffs’ daughter also adopted Winter’s littermate Scout at the same time.

Over the years, Hess has formed strong partnerships with a network of rescue organizations in Tennessee where most of the dogs come from. Dogs currently available for adoption can be found on petfinder.com under Rescue Angels, Inc. or you can contact Vickie directly at vickie@rescueangels.org.
