CPD still searching for suspect in hotel beating

By

Police are continuing an investigation into a violent attack that occurred at the Homewood Suites on Royall Street on Monday, June 4, around 9 p.m. The victim is an unidentified female and Police Chief Ken Berkowitz said police do not believe it was a random attack.

When officers arrived they found a substantial amount of blood in a stairwell and an elevator and determined that the suspect and victim had fled the scene. After canvassing area hospitals, police were able to locate the victim, who had admitted herself into Boston Medical Center with a serious injury. Detectives were able to interview the woman but found her to be uncooperative.

While they initially believed that the victim was stabbed in the chest, Chief Berkowitz, in a follow-up email to the Citizen on Wednesday, said that police now believe that it was a severe beating and that the suspect, rather than the victim, was the who was stabbed.

Police are still in the process of processing fingerprint evidence and reviewing video surveillance footage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Canton Police Department at 781-828-1212 or the Criminal Investigations Unit at 781-828-5285.
