Author debuts new book about children & depression
By Canton CitizenCanton author Irene Buchine debuted her new book, Celia and the Little Boy, at a program held earlier this week at the Canton Public Library.
Drawing on personal experience, Buchine tells the story of two children trapped in the darkness of depression and what it took for them to find their way out. Buchine approaches the complicated issue of depression in children with great respect and sensitivity. She provides the reader a window into the difficulties children and families face when dealing with this challenging mental health condition.
Buchine hopes her book will provide insight and awareness about depression in children, and that her story helps guide others who are dealing with this issue.
Celia and the Little Boy is written and illustrated by Buchine. Together with book designer Kristen Yngve, the power of this book is brought to light.
