MatchingDonors flips Canton property

By

MatchingDonors.com, a Canton-based nonprofit that matches patients with organ donors, recently completed a successful property flip in Canton through its RealEstate4Kidneys program.

The program, originally launched in conjunction with Canton real estate agent Joel Pratt of JL Pratt Realtors, has raised more than $1 million through the acquisition and renovation of distressed properties. Another local realtor, Renee Roberts of Success Real Estate in Canton, has since taken on a key role and was instrumental in the acquisition and sale of the company’s most recent flip, which involved a home at 768 Turnpike Street. Originally built in the 1950s, the property was in desperate need of repairs.

Once organizations in Canton were alerted to the lifesaving capabilities that flipping this house would bring, MatchingDonors was hit with a wave of volunteers. Ed Amico, career counselor at Canton High School, rallied students to volunteer at the house while St. Gerard’s CYO organized groups to assist with the renovations. Along with the students, many local businesses and contractors donated their time, skill and materials to the project. A list of these generous businesses/contractors can be found at 768turnpikestreet.com.

MatchingDonors is also currently flipping properties in numerous locations across the country. This method of fundraising is one of the most effective means of bringing in money to run the lifesaving organization, along with receiving donations of cars, boats, and planes.

Every day in the United States, 22 people die waiting for a kidney transplant, most waiting seven to nine years. The team at MatchingDonors.com is working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen by finding altruistic living organ donors for people needing kidney and other transplants. The average patient gets their transplant through MatchingDonors within six months of signing up on the website. But like any organization, it costs money to run this service.
