CHS boosters looking for Bulldog memorabilia

By

Over the past year, the Canton High School Athletic Boosters supported a project to build display cases along the athletic hallway at CHS. Rather than fill these particular cases with modern-day plaques and trophies, the boosters are looking for historic memorabilia to create a “Walk Through Bulldogs Past.”

“We have some amazing pieces of Bulldog memorabilia spanning as far back as 75 years,” said CHS Athletic Director Danny Erickson. “However, we are in search of more. We are looking for all things Bulldogs, particularly pre-1980. It may be a uniform, photograph, game ticket, personal or team award, etc. We would love it to come with a story we can share as well.”

For example, one piece of memorabilia that will appear in the display case is the pair of spikes worn by Jerry Govatsos when he set the long jump record (21’10”) in 1961. Govatsos, who still lives in Canton, donated the spikes to the school, and they will be featured as part of the “Walk Through Bulldogs Past.”

The CHS boosters are looking for similar artifacts. Those who may have something of interest and are willing to donate it to the school should contact the CHS Athletic Office at 781-821-5050, ext. 7, or send an email to ericksond@cantonma.org.
