The Galvin Middle School community came together on October 8 for its annual “Fit-4-FUNd$” wellness-based fundraiser and raised a total of $34,000. The monies received from Fit-4-FUNd$ is used by the Galvin CAPT to pay for programs and requests that are not covered in the school budget.

The CAPT funds all field trip bus costs as well as curriculum-related programs such as the Tanglewood Marionettes, Holocaust Survivors presentation, and Authors-in-Residence. They also purchase agenda planners for each student and provide a stipend for teachers to purchase classroom supplies.

The CAPT’s goal is to use the money in ways that can reach all of the students. Examples include Chromebook carts, which contain 40 laptops for the students to use during specified lessons; a new skeleton for the science department; display carts for the library; instrument stands, drums, and mallets for the music department; software for the English department; Study Island licenses for homework assignments; and several hundred folding chairs to be used for assemblies and parent events.

The Galvin CAPT extends thanks to the students, families, and faculty for working together to support this worthy cause — all to benefit the students at the Galvin Middle School!
