She was born in Cork City, County Cork, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States at 5 years of age. She was the only daughter of the late Timothy and Abigail Ahern. She was a teacher’s aide at the Dean S. Luce School, a lunch mother at St. John the Evangelist School in Canton, a school crossing guard and a volunteer for the American Red Cross …
