The CHS indoor track team will send 10 individual qualifiers and several relay participants to the Division 4 Indoor Track & Field Championship meet scheduled for this Sunday, February 16, at 1 p.m. at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Some of the athletes have qualified for more than one running event but will have to choose which one to enter, according to head coach Dan Ashman. However, those individuals can participate in other field events and relays.

Qualifiers for the boys’ team include Liam Collins in the mile, Kenny and Somto Ofonagaro in the 55-meter dash, and Somto Ofonagaro in the 300-meter dash.

Two relay teams also qualified: the 4×200 (Wilson Dang, Wilton Mok, Kenny Ofonagoro, Evan Tondre, and Oren Vishny) and the 4×400 (Matt Derbin, Tim Gutowski, Liam Collins, and Patrick Hession).

For the girls’ team, Rachel Campagna, Michaela Kelly, and Catherine Song will each have to choose one running event after qualifying for at least two apiece: Campagna in the 55- and 300-meter dashes, Kelly in the 600 and 1,000, and Song in the 1,000, mile, and two-mile. Campagna also qualified for the long jump competition.

Other qualifiers for the girls’ team include Selena Cho, Alexa MacQuarrie, and Masha Smirnova in the 55-meter dash and Amanda Eagles in the two-mile.

Two girls’ relay teams have also qualified, including the 4×200 (Smirnova, MacQuarrie, Ellie Teague, Cho, and Campagna) and 4×400 (Samantha Koplik, Song, Tamara Auguste, Kelly, Cho, and Campagna).

Ashman will decide the final lineups for all four qualifying relay teams later this week.
