Daniel J. Berardi Sr., 90, a lifelong resident of Canton, died in the comfort of his home December 6, 2013.

berardiHe was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps 816th Bomber Squadron where he flew in over 50 air missions over various countries in Europe as an airborne radio operator, mechanic, and tail gunner in a B-17. For his bravery and conduct during many missions Daniel was awarded, among many medals, the Silver Star and the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Dan retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1987 after 39 years. He was a member of the Canton Town Club, the Wampatuck Golf Course, the American Legion, and the Canton Bowling League.

Son of the late Candido and Mary Berardi. Devoted husband of the late Bridget L. (Martino) Berardi of Canton. Loving father of Sandra M. Berardi and her husband, Steven Toner, of Rockland, Daniel J. Berardi Jr. of Sandwich, David P. Berardi of Quincy, Paul E. Berardi of Hanson, and Michael J. Berardi and his wife, Elaine, of Stoughton. Loving brother of Francis Berardi of Canton, Gino Berardi of Falmouth, Gilda Colp of FL, Joseph Berardi of Canton, Ann Kirk of AZ, Edward Berardi of Canton, and the late Richard and Robert Berardi. Dan is survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday morning, December 11, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canton Veterans Department, 92 Pleasant St., Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
