CCT presents Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus

This weekend the Canton Community Theatre will present its Christmas production, Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus, at the Village Shoppes at Cobb’s Corner, located at 95 Washington Street in Canton. Show times are Friday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8, at 1:30 p.m.

This classic tale was inspired by a simple, poignant letter written over 100 years ago by 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon to the editor of the New York Sun — and by the timeless editorial response printed on the front page of the Sun. Virginia wondered and wrote: “Dear Editor, I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says if you see it in the Sun, it’s so. Please tell me the truth. Is there a Santa Claus?”

The Canton Community Theatre has continued to focus its Christmas show on classic stories that many grew up with, including last year’s The Night before Christmas and now this year with Yes, Virginia.

The production features a cast of 11, including Canton residents Lexie and Tori Metsika, Anna Hennessey, Grace and Daniel Sweetland, and Nicky Carbone. Also performing will be Abigail McCadden of Easton, Allison Hersh of Mansfield, Rich Morton of Walpole, Rosemary Amadeo of Stoughton, and Tracy Northup of Norwood.

The Canton Community Theatre is located at the Village Shoppes next to the Shoe Dept and across from the Halfway Café. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children/seniors. They can be purchased at the door or at www.cantoncommunitytheatre.org. For more information, email jjwcanton@comcast.net.
