Police ask for assistance in finding assault suspects

By

Two men were transported to Norwood Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and a third was injured but did not require medical transport following an altercation at the intersection of Neponset and Fuller streets on Friday, November 23, around 1 a.m.

The incident reportedly stemmed from an earlier altercation at a beer pong tournament on Thursday evening at the Junction Sports Pub. According to police, one of the suspects produced a baseball bat, striking one of the victims several times. Another victim was struck by the suspect’s vehicle during the course of the altercation. The vehicle was described as a grey/silver SUV or station wagon with minor front-end damage and damage to the front windshield. The vehicle was seen fleeing westbound on Neponset Street toward I-95.

Deputy Chief Helena Findlen said police have some leads but are continuing to conduct interviews and look at video to help determine the identities of the suspects. The victims said they had never seen the suspects prior to entering the sports bar. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the CPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit.

Firefighters respond to gas odor at University Station site

On Thursday, November 21, at 9:49 a.m. Canton firefighters were called to the new University Station construction site on University Avenue in Westwood to help utility firms check and stop a gas leak. The leak was so strong that gas odors spread to Royall Street, affecting Reebok and Boston Mutual. Both buildings were checked with a gas meter by firefighters, but levels were found to be normal.

In other news last week, firefighters were called to the Harbor One Bank on Friday afternoon following reports of an area electrical brownout. Firefighters also responded to reports of fallen trees and wires on Reservoir Circle and Rockland Street on Sunday, November 24.
