Bryan Rooney named NE-10 Player of the Week

By

Former CHS ice hockey star Bryan Rooney was recently honored as the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in Stonehill College’s 7-3 comeback victory over Southern New Hampshire University in the Skyhawks’ season opener on Saturday, November 2.

Rooney, a senior forward and team captain, earns the NE-10 weekly honor for the third time in his career, after doing so twice last season. He finished his junior campaign with 32 total points (16 goals, 16 assists), good for second overall in the conference.

Rooney opened his final season with a bang against SNU, tallying three goals — all in the third period — for his first career hat trick. His first tally gave the Skyhawks a two-goal advantage, and later he extended the lead back to two with only four minutes remaining in the contest. Rooney then capped off his big night with a power play goal in the waning seconds of the game.
