Matraia, Argia

Argia Matraia (Dini), 90, of Canton, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away August 18 at Mass. General Hospital.

Born in Italy, she came to the United States in 1969 and previously lived in Jamaica Plain before moving to Hyde Park 35 years ago. She worked as a nurse’s aide for the Parkwell Nursing Home for many years.

Beloved wife of the late Franco Matraia. Sister of the late Lina Dini and her late husband, Dante. Cousin of Alfred Giannelli and his wife, Sylvia, of Canton, Gerard A. Giannelli and his wife, Margie, of Brockton and the late Joseph R. Giannelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton Friday, August 23, at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Friday prior to the mass from 9-10 a.m. Burial Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
