Hillside golf fundraiser benefits 10-year-old Canton girl

On Monday, July 22, Hillside Pub in Canton held its seventh annual Hillside Open Golf Fundraiser at Wampatuck Country Club.

Proceeds from this year’s sold-old event went to the family of 10-year-old Lauren Ford, a student at the Luce Elementary School who suffered a brachial plexus injury at birth, resulting in the partial paralysis of her right arm. Over the past 10 years, Lauren has bravely undergone a number of surgeries in an attempt to lessen the effects of her impairment, and while recent medical advances have made a tremendous difference in her life, they have also put a significant financial strain on the family.

When Hillside Pub owners Walter McCaan and Mike Gargan heard the Fords’ story, they decided to make Lauren and her family the beneficiaries of their seventh annual golf tournament. Donations are still being accepted and would be greatly appreciated by the family.
