Coleman “Buddy” M. King, 82, of Canton, died Monday afternoon, July 22, at the Hellenic Nursing Home in Canton after lengthy illness.

Born in South Boston, the son of the late Michael and Julie (Dirrane) King, Mr. King had been a Dorchester resident before moving to Canton in 1976.

Mr. King retired from Burke Distributors where he had been employed as a delivery person for many years.

Mr. King served in the Massachusetts National Guard. A devout communicant of Saint Gerard Majella Parish, he had served as an usher. He was an active member of the Canton Council on Aging. He loved animals and particularly dogs.

Mr. King is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dorothy “Dottie” T. (Hoffman) King, and his cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Bartley, Timothy, and Martin King.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a mass of Christian burial in celebration of Buddy’s life on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Gerard Majella Church, 1860 Washington Street in Canton. Interment will follow at the Canton Corner Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Thursday, July 25, from 3-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Buddy’s memory to the Canton Council on Aging, 660 Washington St., P.O. Box 54, Canton, MA 02021.
