Civil War Day

By

A big piece of history came to Canton on Saturday, June 22, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Civil War and the fallen heroes from Canton who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Sponsored by the Olde Colony Civil War Round Table and organized by Canton resident Bob Hearsey, Canton Civil War Day featured a re-dedication of the Civil War memorial at Town Hall and an encampment by the 20th and 22nd Massachusetts regiments and the Boston branch of the U.S. Sanitary Commission at Pequitside Farm. The event also included a talk on Civil War coins and a Civil War era fashion show at the Canton Public Library, as well as a special display of Civil War items at the Canton Historical Society.
