Gemma J. Brongo (Molino), 96, of Canton and St. Augustine, Florida, died peacefully in her home June 13, 2013, after a brief illness.

brongoBorn in Cambridge, she was raised in Somerville. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1934 and moved to Canton in 1957. Gemma was a retired U.S. Postal Service worker. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Italy, and was a member of the Sons of Italy, Norwood Italian Lodge. Gemma’s love and caring ways were always there for her family, which was most important to her. She especially enjoyed family gatherings.

She is the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Molino (Fustolo). Devoted wife for over 54 years of the late Anthony C. Brongo. Loving mother of Diana Franco and her husband, George, of Canton, with whom she lived for over 30 years. Loving mother of Leonora Tobin and her husband, Robert, of CT. Proud grandmother of Lorna Franco, Dana Franco, Gina Franco, Darren Franco, Robin Field, Kimberly Harrow, Pamela Sachs, Kristen Risk, and 14 great-grandchildren, in addition to several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Mario Molino, Darwin Molino, Olga Viola, and Ester Canto.

A service celebrating Gemma’s life was held Tuesday morning, June 18, in the United Church of Christ in Canton. Interment National Cemetery in Bourne at 2 p.m. If desired, donations may be made in Gemma’s memory to the Norwood Italian Lodge SOI Scholarship Fund, c/o Toni Eosco, 14 Endicott St., Norwood, MA 02062. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street.
