Fire Dept. responds to MV accidents, truck fire

One driver was transported to Norwood Hospital following a two-car accident on Tuesday, June 4, around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dunbar and Washington streets. The Fire Department also responded to a motor vehicle accident on Monday, June 3, around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of routes 24 and 139, and one party was taken to Norwood Hospital.

In addition, firefighters responded to a truck fire at the intersection of Route 24 North and Interstate 93. The driver was able to escape from the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. Canton and Randolph firefighters both participated in putting out the fire.

Fire engine stalls in Canton Square

A wrecker was called in to tow a Canton fire engine that got stuck in Canton Square on Sunday, June 9, around 4 p.m. Fire Chief Charlie Doody said the problem with the engine was most likely electrical in nature. Doody said the department will use a backup engine until the engine is repaired.

No problems reported at weekend Irish festival

The Canton Fire Department reported no major medical calls and police had only one protective custody incident at the Boston Irish Festival, held last weekend at the Irish Cultural Centre off Route 138.
