William J. “Ginty” Wiederhold Jr., 67, of Canton, passed away May 23 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.

weiderholdBorn in Boston, he was a lifelong resident of Canton where he attended St. John the Evangelist School and graduated from Canton High School. He went on to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the DAV. He worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 103 for over 40 years and retired in 2003. He was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton and was an avid hunter.

Beloved husband of the late Judith A. (Tordoff). Father of Rebecca Wiederhold and her fiancé, Daniel Souza, of Stoughton, Audrey Gibson and her husband, Kevin, of Canton, Amy Wiederhold of Canton, and the late Kristine Wiederhold. Brother of the late Paul, John and Alfred Wiederhold. Brother-in-law of Janet Wiederhold of Stoughton. Grandfather of Kalynn Souza and Kevin Gibson. Uncle of Linda Bethea and Laura Gillespie. Also survived by his longtime companion, Elizabeth Galvin of Canton.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday morning, May 28, in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canton Veterans’ Service Department, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021, or to the Shapiro Cardiovascular Center, c/o Brigham & Women’s Hospital, 75 Francis St., Boston, MA 02115. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
